Here are the audio cues for Provenance, subject to change and revision until submitting to Patrick on Sunday with potential EQ and volume revisions after runthrough on Monday evening. Please note that I'm still waiting on the audio intercom messages from Ana and have only vocal placeholders in there at present.

1) Intro Music

  • Placement: Beginning of play.

  • Sound: Opens with music before transitioning into train sound effect to place the scene in train station.

2) Cue 1: False Hope (Train fx 01)

  • Placement: Immediately following Mikhail's line: "They’re everywhere. You never know when one might … appear. For your safety, of course." He pours Solomon more vodka.

  • Sound: A distant, slightly muffled platform announcement begins, barely audible at first. This is quickly followed by the sound of a steam train approaching in the distance - building in volume and then fading as full attention returns to dialogue.

3) Cue 2: Overlapping Confession (Train fx 02)

  • Placement: As Mikhail begins to describe the execution of the Tsar's family: " (He leans in across the table.) You’re my friend, Solomon. Allow me to explain its provenance. The Tsarevich had it. (a long beat) I hunted Tsar Nicholas down..."

  • Sound: A loud train whistle BLASTS, momentarily drowning out Mikhail's words. The whistle fades slightly as a clear platform announcement in Russian is heard, followed by the sound of a train arriving at the station. This overlaps with Mikhail continuing his confession.

4) Music Outro:

  • Placement: Ending.

  • Sound: Train sound then music finale.

5) Alternative Intro Music

  • Placement: Another idea for beginning of show

  • Sound: Opens with music before transitioning into train sound effect to place the scene in train station.

Best regards,

Damian
